The homepage used to show a dead iPhone, then ask you to install a laptop app.

That was honest about the problem and dishonest about the product. When the grid goes dark, you are holding a phone. First responders and hikers do not pack a 15 GB desktop install for a day hike. We are changing the lead platform.

What stays true

The app still does not need a network after you have downloaded it. Answers still have to come from the library on the device, with a citation you can open. Medical and plant topics still get a warning. We still will not sell fear, and we still will not pretend a model “just knows” which berries are safe.

What changes

iOS and Android become the field product: compact on-device model, GPS, compass, camera for barcodes, map regions you choose. Desktop stays as base camp — the larger local model, bulk library, household inventory, map packs downloaded on Wi-Fi.

We are not squeezing the current Tauri / Mistral-7B / 15 GB stack into the App Store. That would be a lie about both battery and Apple’s size limits. Same brand, same citation rule, different binary.
